ABOUT THE ORGANISATION

Knowledge for everyone.

Womanhood Initiative is a nonprofit organisation working to improve knowledge about girls’ and women’s health. We want more people to understand the body, know their options and access useful information.

OUR PURPOSE

For a new standard in girls’ and women’s health.

Throughout life, girls and women may have questions about menstruation, hormones, contraception, illness, health and different life stages. What we know shapes how we understand our experiences and the questions we can ask.

We create free educational platforms and digital tools to help girls, women and those around them understand the body. Our aim is to make information easier to find, understand and use.

THE WHOLE BODY. THROUGHOUT LIFE.

Women's health is about the whole body. And a whole lifetime.

What comes to mind when you hear the words women's health? Perhaps menstruation, contraception, pregnancy or menopause. Or gynaecological health and conditions that mainly affect women.

All of these matter. But women's health also includes the heart, brain, bones, sleep and mental health. It concerns differences in how conditions affect people, and how biological and social factors shape health throughout life.

To understand women's health, we must see the whole person, not only the reproductive system.

KNOWLEDGE BUILDS UNDERSTANDING

We need knowledge and words for what we experience.

We need to understand how the body works, what may change over time and when to seek help. We also need words to describe what we feel and an understanding of how health affects everyday life.

How can we ask useful questions if we do not know what to ask? How can we describe symptoms if we do not have the words?

Knowledge can help us understand our bodies and prepare for conversations with healthcare professionals. Everyone should have the opportunity to understand more.

EQUITABLE ACCESS

Knowledge should not be a privilege.

Access to understandable, trustworthy health information should not depend on income, education or the people around you.

Some grow up with open conversations about the body and health. Others receive little information, encounter language barriers or have nobody to ask.

We believe knowledge should help reduce inequality, not reinforce it. That is why we share our resources for free, without requiring an account.

FROM KNOWLEDGE TO ACTION

We make knowledge accessible and useful.

We create open educational platforms and digital tools to help people understand their bodies, explore health information and find relevant support. We build on research, professional recommendations and lived experiences for children, young people, adults, parents, professionals and workplaces.

PUBLIC RESPONSIBILITY

Health education should be a given.

We believe public institutions should take clear, lasting responsibility for making education about girls’ and women’s health a natural part of schools and working life.

Until this knowledge reaches everyone in a systematic and accessible way, Womanhood Initiative will continue to provide free educational platforms and digital tools. We want more people to understand their bodies, ask questions and make informed choices.

HOW WE WORK

From questions to practical tools.

Our work starts with the questions and knowledge needs that arise through life. We communicate health information in understandable language and create digital tools to make it easier to use.

User feedback and professional perspectives are important to our development process. We aim to keep our resources useful, accessible and responsive to new knowledge.

COLLABORATION

Working together for better understanding.

Young people need language for the body, parents need support for conversations, and adults have questions across different life stages. Teachers, workplaces and health professionals also need accessible resources.

We want girls’ and women’s health education to have a natural place in schools, workplaces and society. We welcome collaboration with people and organisations who share our mission.
