OUR WORK

Knowledge you can use.

We create knowledge platforms, digital tools and initiatives for different needs throughout life. Learn what each project aims to achieve, who it is designed for and what you can explore.

Most linked project platforms currently provide content primarily in Norwegian.

01 / KNOWLEDGE PLATFORM

Tidlignok

Children, young people, parents, carers and professionals

Knowledge when you need it. Tidlignok makes information about the body, health and rights easier to find, understand and use throughout life.

Why Tidlignok?

You should not have to wait until something becomes difficult before learning about your own body and health. Tidlignok brings together research-based information, public health recommendations and information about rights.

Articles, interactive tools and resources tailored to different audiences help people understand bodily changes, recognise symptoms, describe their experiences and know when to seek help.

Our aim is for more people to gain the knowledge they need early enough to use it.

For children aged 8–12

Understanding a changing body. This section helps children learn about bodily changes, puberty and their first experiences of menstruation.

Simple explanations, illustrations and practical tools show what happens in the body, why it happens and how experiences can differ. Children also learn how to ask questions and when to talk to an adult or a healthcare professional.

For young people aged 13–17

Understand your body. Understand your experiences. Young people can explore accessible, research-based information about the body, menstrual cycles, health, sexuality and relationships.

We explain why symptoms and experiences may occur, what may be within normal variation and when to seek a medical assessment. Our aim is to help young people communicate their needs and seek support.

For parents and carers

When children need answers, adults need knowledge. These resources explain bodily development and puberty, common variations and signs that medical support may be needed.

Adults can also find practical suggestions for talking with children about the body, menstruation, boundaries and health in an age-appropriate, respectful way.

For professionals

Knowledge to use when supporting children and young people. We develop teaching materials, conversation guidance and approaches to adjustments related to puberty, menstruation and health.

The aim is to help professionals communicate clearly and respond to different needs in teaching and support.

02 / WOMEN'S HEALTH

Tidlignok Women's Health

For anyone who wants to understand the body throughout life

Explore bodily functions, symptoms, conditions, hormones and health at different stages of life.

Understanding the body throughout life

Women's bodies change throughout life. Tidlignok Women's Health makes research-based knowledge about girls' and women's bodies, health and rights easier to access at different life stages.

We explain how the body works, why symptoms may occur, how hormonal and physiological changes may affect health, and what variations are common.

Articles, anatomical models and interactive tools help people explore the body, understand connections and learn about health complaints and conditions. We also distinguish established findings from uncertainty and explain when medical assessment may be needed.

Our aim is to help more people understand their bodies and participate actively in decisions about their health.

03 / WORKING LIFE

Tidlignok Working Life

Employees, managers, HR and occupational health and safety professionals

Knowledge and practical tools for communication, prevention and workplace adjustments related to women's health.

Read more about the purpose and content

A working life that makes room for every stage of life

Health affects working life, and working life can affect health. Yet employees and managers often lack information about the impact of different health needs at work.

We explain how health conditions, life stages and treatments may affect working life, and what options exist for dialogue, adjustments and prevention. The content includes research-based information, practical examples and explanations of relevant rules.

The aim is not for employees to share more medical information than necessary, but for knowledge to help people find appropriate solutions together.

04 / RESEARCH

Tidlignok Research

For people who want to understand studies on girls' and women's health

Source-based research summaries explaining what studies examined, what researchers reported and whom the findings concern.

Read more about the purpose and content

Understanding published research

Scientific articles can be difficult to find, read and understand without specialist knowledge. Tidlignok Research explains what studies of girls' and women's health have investigated and found.

We describe how studies were carried out, which results the researchers reported, what those results may mean, and the studies' limitations.

We explain whom the findings apply to and what they do not justify concluding. The summaries are based on researchers' own accounts of methods, results and limitations. We do not carry out independent scientific quality assessments of the studies.

Our aim is to make published research understandable and useful without requiring an academic background.

05 / STATISTICS AND HEALTH DATA

Tidlignok Insights

The public, professionals, journalists, organisations and decision-makers

In development

Brings together existing Norwegian health statistics on girls and women, with charts, explanations and transparent sources.

Read more about the purpose and content

Knowledge that provides insight

Much information about girls' and women's health already exists, but it is scattered across public registries, reports and surveys. Tidlignok Insights aims to make this data easier to find, understand and examine together.

We present selected health indicators over time and explain what each figure measures, whom it concerns, how it is used, and what limitations the data has.

We also highlight evidence gaps: where data is missing or incomplete, or cannot answer important questions. We do not produce original health data.

The goal is not to present as many graphs as possible, but to support better-informed, transparent discussions, priorities and decisions.

How Insights differs from Research

Tidlignok Research explains what scientific studies investigated and found, including their methods, results and limitations.

Tidlignok Insights shows what existing statistics and datasets reveal, explaining indicators, trends over time and limitations of the available data.

Both aim to make existing knowledge accessible without presenting Womanhood Initiative as the original producer of the studies or figures.

06 / CONTRACEPTION

Prevensjonsprat

For people considering, using, switching or stopping contraception

Information about contraceptive methods, shared experiences and practical tools to support informed decisions.

Read more about the purpose and content

Knowledge and experiences about contraception

Prevensjonsprat helps people explore contraceptive methods, understand possible effects and side effects, and prepare for conversations with healthcare professionals.

People can read and share experiences and find support for questions about starting, using, switching or stopping contraception. Other people's experiences are personal and cannot replace medical evidence or individual medical advice.

Our aim is to help people access the knowledge and questions they need to make informed decisions about contraception.
